New Drug Management Regulation Takes Center Stage at AAM, BBPOM, and IAI Workshop for Pharmacists in Malang

The enactment of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) Regulation No. 5 of 2026 on the Supervision of Drug and Pharmaceutical Ingredient Management in Pharmaceutical Service Facilities and Other Facilities has underscored the importance of ensuring that pharmaceutical professionals are well equipped to implement the new regulatory requirements.

To support this objective, PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM) Malang Branch, in collaboration with the Surabaya Regional Office of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BBPOM Surabaya) and the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) of Malang City and Malang Regency, organized a Technical Guidance Program for Pharmacists-in-Charge (PIC Pharmacists) of community pharmacies on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at The Alana Hotel Malang.

The event brought together 83 pharmacists from Malang City, Malang Regency, Batu City, and Blitar. The program addressed two key priorities: the implementation of BPOM Regulation No. 5 of 2026 and strategies to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), reinforcing the shared commitment to improving pharmaceutical care and promoting the safe and responsible use of medicines.

During the session, Mr. Yudi Noviandi, M.Sc.Tech., Apt., Head of BBPOM Surabaya, presented the latest standards for drug management under BPOM Regulation No. 5 of 2026, emphasizing its role as the primary regulatory framework governing pharmaceutical management practices in healthcare facilities across Indonesia.

He highlighted that the program was the first dedicated forum in the Greater Malang area to introduce the regulation to practicing pharmacists, providing a valuable platform to accelerate its effective implementation.

Mr. Yudi Noviandi also expressed his appreciation to PT Anugrah Argon Medica for supporting the initiative, recognizing the program as a strong example of collaboration between regulators, professional organizations, and the healthcare industry in advancing pharmaceutical service standards.

Dra. apt. Khusnul Arifianti, Chairperson of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) Malang City, likewise welcomed the collaboration between AAM, BBPOM, and IAI. She noted that the program offered pharmacists valuable insights into the latest regulatory developments, enabling them to translate policy into best practices within their respective pharmacies.

Mr. Andre Prasetyo, Regional Operations Manager of PT Anugrah Argon Medica, emphasized that partnerships with regulatory authorities and professional associations are an integral part of the company's commitment to strengthening the capabilities of Indonesia's pharmaceutical workforce.

The event was also attended by Mrs. Setyo Utami, S.Si., Apt., M.Farm., Head of the Inspection Team at BBPOM Surabaya; apt. Bhakti Maulana Asnar, S.Farm., Chairperson of IAI Malang Regency; Mr. Ipung Wahyu Wibowo, Branch Manager of AAM Malang; Mr. Dewa Putu Gde Raka Sumantri, Branch Manager of AAM Surabaya; Mrs. Amelia Senjaya, Deputy Branch Manager of AAM Surabaya; and representatives from BBPOM Surabaya.
